Archbishop of Denver, Charles Chaput, has recently released his first book, Living the Catholic Faith; Recovering the Basics. The Archbishop is an enjoyable speaker on any topic and this book is based on a series of talks he gave during the Jubilee Year. It covers most of the hot topics that form the basis of discussion within the Church and between the various faith communities; but, it does so in the language of the average person. He states the Catholic viewpoint in a clear readable fashion using easy to follow stories as a vehicle. The end result is an easy to understand expression of the Catholic Church's teaching on some of the key issues of the day.

It was an August night in 1916 when Msgr. Joseph J. Bosetti saw a fiery meteor fall from the sky. An avid mountaineer and, at the time, a young assistant pastor at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver, Msgr. Bosetti later related that the meteor seemed to fall into the aspen and pine-covered forests at the foot of Mount Meeker. He never found the meteor, but at dawn, did discover an impressive lichen-covered rock formation. Bosetti regarded this as a message from heaven and vowed to build a chapel on the site.

Over the next several decades, thousands of boys, aged ten to eighteen attended the camp while Bosetti saw his dreams of building a chapel realized. The story of the chapel and the Camp is covered in a new book, published in June, 2001, The Chapel on the Rock: A brief history of Camp St. Malo and St. Catherine of Siena Chapel by Fara Kearnes.
